I love etymology, make a mean peanut butter & jelly sandwich, and sometimes, when I'm feeling brave, I like to rock red lipstick. I am a University of Kansas alumna (I earned degrees in both Germanic Languages & Literatures and Journalism in May 2012) and a former au pair (I lived and worked in Eckernförde, Germany in 2011).
I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico; raised in Independence, Missouri; and attended university in Lawrence, Kansas. I am currently in the throes of my fifth(!) year living in Germany.
I am in love with words and the power they hold—the effect they can have.
Being a writer—doing something every day that I am passionate about—is an incredible thing. And something I don't take for granted.
Currently I work as a Senior Copywriter at TBWA\ in Hamburg, writing for international brands in both German and English. Though English is my preferred language to write in, I am fluent in German and have been known to write a few schlaue German headlines. I also work as a digital account, helping create strategies, content, and managing social media platforms.
Figuring out the strategy is nearly as fun as the writing itself. The science behind the way we communicate truly fascinates me.
I'm passionate about communication, connecting cultures, proper use of the Oxford comma, brilliant puns, ridiculous comedy, and living a full, invigorating life with integrity. And last but certainly not least, I am passionate about food (the eating part).
